Considering it was only 2 hours long – from Alicante to London – we had quite an eventful first leg of the journey East.
The campervan is still in Spain (now with Grandma and Grandpa in it). We have set off east. With a little detour west to London to pick up a flight to Dubai. There was a seven hour gap between our flights and the boys asked “what are we going to do with all that time?”
First, our flight from Alicante to London made an emergency stop in France to drop off a sick passenger. We took off again for London. Then, the plane was met at the airport by a paramedic crew on the runway in London to pick up another sick passenger.
Crossing fingers that everyone else would be ok, we got the shuttle from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 and plonked ourselves down with a sandwich. “How many bags did we start with, mum?” “5” “How many do we have now?” “4”. Back to Terminal 3 and a plea to go back to the luggage reclaim at the other side of customs. A very lovely security person took us though the staff security entrance where the underwired bra caused a bit of an alarm and a search. Twice. But we were reunited with our bag. Back to Terminal 1.
That left us with a full 5 minutes to fill before boarding. Spent that in the loo.
